On Saturday we headed out to Cross Iron Mills to do some Christmas shopping and Finley wanted to meet with Santa Claus. We got there shortly after 11 and soon after that Penelope went missing.
I took Finley to the bathroom and I assumed Penelope stayed with Greg at South Street Burger where we were going to have lunch. She apparently followed me and Greg thought I knew that. I did not. I immediately freaked out while Greg and Finley went and searched stores and the mall. I sat in front of the restaurant and bawled my eyes out. Thankfully there were some wonderful people there who searched for my little girl, who called the RCMP and who called Mall Security. After what seemed like forever, she was located at Mall Security. A family saw her wondering near Bass Pro Shops and took her their. She was as happy as could be and I was more relieved then you could possibly know.
We did some shopping and Penelope fell asleep in the stroller (that we didn’t have with us when she went missing although it wouldn’t have made a difference because she would have gotten out at the restaurant but that i needed to keep my sane for the rest of the afternoon) and woke up just before it was our turn to meet Santa Claus. Finley of course loved it as you could see in her smile. Penelope was like whatever get it over with!
Despite it starting out as awful as it could be, our day turned out to be pretty good. However, the earlier events had taken a toll on me as I freaked out each time Finley left my eyesite. Greg told me to relax, but I just couldn’t.
On Sunday night, Greg, the girls and I put up the main floor Christmas tree. Greg calls it the boring, snobby tree but I call it the formal and elegant one :). This tree is strictly red and silver and NOTHING else. All the fun ornaments go upstairs in the bonus room tree. Regardless of the ornaments, Finley loves to do it. Penelope participated much more than she did last year.
Taking some of the more fancier ornaments out
Penelope wanting to hoard the decorations instead of putting on the tree
Seriously love this photo
Taking a time out
Rapunzel’s Tower is far more exciting…..
Cleaning up the first of several ornaments. Most of ours break proof – still weeding out the non break proof though :) And yes I am wearing pajama bottoms but my leggings were underneath. I was cold so put the pants over top of my original outfit.
Reaching the up high places
Penelope admiring our main floor tree – turned out pretty good…..
In better late then never news, here are our Halloween photos.
Getting ready to head out to get some treats. Finley was Rapunzel and Penelope was Minnie Mouse. I know that you guys are all totally shocked by this :)
Penelope wanted no part in this. She screamed and screamed.
I assumed that this was how I would be taking Finley’s halloween photos – from across the street
But once I explained to Penelope that she would get candy, she got on board
Although she does not look happy yet
Penelope and I only made it to about 10 houses before heading back. She was so cold and wouldn’t keep her mitts on. She screamed even louder but having to go home but seemed to calm down once i told her she could have a piece of candy when we got home.
She had lots of fun handing out the candy to the other trick or treaters while Greg and Finley continued to trick or treat for just over 2 more hours. We had a TON of candy stashed in our house. It was ridiculous! Thankfully the novelty wore off real soon and Greg was able to eat most of the candy himself ;)
We had a ton of kids come to our house and would safely say that it was the most we had ever had.
It is tradition for the birthday girl to have her photos taken as she wakes up in the morning.
Seriously, is she 15 already?? She is not fond of getting up in the morning, she never has been.
After a breakfast of pink pancakes (her request), we headed over to her friends’ house for a birthday playdate!
They did some painting
Note Finley is now wearing a different shirt. She got paint all over the one she was wearing and M was kind enough to lend us one of S’s shirts to wear for the morning and later on to preschool.
Cupcakes and fruit! It was Caylee’s birthday the following day
Yay H woke up. Penelope was definitely intrigued with her. Sorry P, you will forever be the youngest in our family
All the little buddies. It was the best pic I had of the 5. At least Penelope looks happy!
Fast asleep on the way home from school. She was tuckered out from such an exciting day and it wasn’t even over yet.
Wanting to open her presents
Another Rapunzel doll. She wanted this so badly so she was very happy to get her.
A new Rapunzel costume for both Finley and Kitty!
A Rapunzel picnic. This doesn’t even cover half of her Rapunzel doll collection. It’s a little insane!
With Kitty getting a new princess dress, her carebear was lucky enough to get the old princess shirt that the cat used to wear.
Pizza for supper – Finley’s request
Doing her new Rapunzel puzzle with Daddy’s help
She decided she wanted to have ice cream at marble slab in a fancy cone instead of more cake or cupcakes. She chose half chocolate half bubble gum ice cream mixed together with gummy bears mixed in. It tasted as awful as it sounds but she loved it and that was all that mattered.
Penelope eating her strawberry ice cream with sprinkles
All in all, Finley had a great birthday. Still can’t believe she is 4!!!!!
