Christmas In The Rockies

The first weekend of December we headed out to Banff for the annual Christmas In The Rockies that takes place the first Saturday of December.  This year we planned on going snowshoeing before heading into town for the festivities.
All bundled up at Lake Minnewanka

Getting the girls all ready

Ready to get going

Finley did not want to put her snowshoes on.  She wanted to ride in the sled because she LOVES sledding.  We told her if she used her snowshoes for a little bit, we would get her a chocolate treat from The Fudgery.  She complied :)

Finley trying out her snowshoes

They don’t make snowshoes in Penelope’s size yet!!  She was supposed to ride in the sled but decided to walk instead

Finally Penelope got into the sled

My snowshoes

Finley had enough snowshoeing so she hopped in the sled

And they loved it!!!

Without a doubt, the best photo of the entire day.  It completely sums up how beautiful it was out there and how blessed we are to live somewhere so close to natural beauty.

Some bull Elk on the way back to Banff.  These are a rare site in Banff these days

Greg and Penelope making a Christmas ornament at the mall

Finley and I making our ornament

Showing off their ornaments

Waiting in line for the bean bag toss

Finley was really good at it

Penelope may have cheated….
My contribution to Movember :)

Waiting for the Santa Claus Parade to start

She had just woken up from a nap and she hates cold weather but she survived!

HO HO HO!!!  It’s Santa Claus!!!
We ended our great day in the Rockies by having dinner at the Elks and Oarsmen.  It was delicious as always.  I highly recommend you make reservations if you plan on going out to eat after the parade.  We always do and I am SO grateful!!
