O Christmas Tree

O Christmas Tree

Two years ago, my beloved main floor pre-lit christmas lost half of the lights – meaning they quit working.  I could have tried to change the light but that seemed like too much work.  Greg used a set of clear indoor lights to “fix” it but I hated how it looked the lights are different colours and the pattern was off.
I decided that this year I was going to buy a new christmas tree or Greg would de-string the old one and we would put the lights on myself.  I didn’t realize how hard it would be to find a decent looking tree for a good price.  What I was finding EVERYWHERE was very ugly trees for very high prices.  Even when reduced by half, I still couldn’t see spending that kind of money on them.  Some wanted well over $100 for a tree you could get at walmart for $25.  No joke.  Anyways, while at Home Depot buying chalkboard paint, I cam across a 7.5 foot LED Martha Stewart tree on sale for $120 and it was really pretty so I bought it.  Fast forward to the next day and Greg and I were there again for Black Friday sale and came across another tree that was 7 feet for $70.  This one didn’t have LED lights but for the price who cares.  I liked the colour of this one better then the Martha Tree and really once we got home and got the star on it, 7.5 feet would have been too tall.
Here it is all puffed out ready to be decorated the following day.  The girls were dying to decorate it and had been asking for days so they were not happy when we had to leave to go Uncle Brad’s birthday dinner and not decorate it until Sunday morning.
I told the girls Sunday morning that we could decorate the tree once the main floor was tidied up and they did everything – even folded bath towels and put them away.  I almost wish Christmas was every month the way they clean to get Christmas stuff!  Greg had tried to get Penelope to put the star on but she freaked out when he lifted her up so Finley did it.  She doesn’t like our tree topper very much but was happy to do it.
Going through the Christmas decorations for the main floor tree.  Greg hates our main floor tree and calls it the boring tree.  I am very anal about what goes on this tree.  They have to be red or rustic.  It used to be red and silver but i am trying to get rid of the silver ones.  I also don’t allow bulbs or balls. They are pretty ornaments from Crate + Barrel and Pier 1 after Christmas and Canadian Tire has some really nice ornaments.
Trying to place the ornaments in the perfect spot
Reaching up high..
I love how they are so precise as to where the next ornament should go and rearranging if it doesn’t look right.
Helping out her little sister when she couldn’t get the ornament hook on the branch.
All done!!  Penelope said it was the most beautiful tree in the whole wide world
I love the glow of a christmas tree late at night or early in the morning while everyone is sleeping and you are enjoying a cup of tea.   Tis the Season….
