On our final day in Yellowstone we went to the Old Faithful Area. It is a pretty awesome setup that they have there! Hotels, restaurants, gift shops – everything all in one!!
Old Faithful was going off when we got there so we decided to go wait for Grand Geyser to erupt since it only goes off every 20 hours and the window for today was between 830 and 1230. It was around 10 so it wouldn’t be too long of a wait. But it turns out that we waited, and waited. And waited some more before it finally erupted at like 12:28!! However, the wait was well worth it.
Grand Geyser is the tallest predictable geyser in the world. It was unbelievable.
Since Grand Geyser went to the maximum time we again missed Old Faithful as it happened to go off about 12 minutes early. We walked around the area, went into the hotels and gift shops and had lunch.
We headed out to Old Faithful at around 2pm as it was scheduled to erupt at 2:11 plus or minus 10 minutes. However, just like Grand, Old Faithful waited until the very last minute to go off. I was a little disappointed with Old Faithful. I had high expectations of it – mostly because of Meet The Deedles but it really paled in comparison to Grand Geyser. I wish I would have seen Old Faithful first. Regardless, there were 1000’s of people waiting to see Old Faithful each eruption. Kinda crazy!
Finley and Greg went to the campfire program and saw some Elk and some baby elks. Finley loves elks. She can now recognize elk, moose, bears, wolves.
