Since the new fall season starts next week, I thought I would share my favourites from previous seasons and some new ones that I might pick up for this season.
Greys Anatomy (ABC)- I actually mostly hate this show but can't quit it. I almost did though - I had 13 episodes pile up on my PVR and they had to kill Derek and so I had to binge watch 13 episodes in a limited amount of time so it wouldn't be spoiled on social media. I didn't know he was going to die just that something big was about to happen. I still let the episodes pile up and most of the time I just read spoilers online and delete a lot of them.
Brooklyn 99 (FOX) - I wanted so badly to love this show but I just don't. I continue to watch it weekly because I love me some Andy Samberg. Fun fact, Penelope shares a birthday with him. It's an ok show but if it wasn't for him, it be long gone. Greg loves this show very much.
Modern Family (ABC) - this is another show I don't particularly like and one that we fall behind on all the time. In fact we watched the season finale in July. I always say to Greg that we need to quit this show and they have a really good episode that pulls you back in and then 5 terrible ones to follow.
The Big Bang Theory(CBS) - This show was so funny and now it goes from such a great episode to a series of not so funny ones. And now they are bringing a baby into it?? I don't know how much more this show can go on.
Criminal Minds (CBS)- This show has had so much character change that the only 2 original characters are Penelope and Reid. Even JJ left and then came back. Luckily for me, Penelope and Reid are my two favroite. it will be interesting to see how they do without Derek and what's his face (the head guy) but if you watched CSI Miami, you will recognize one of the new characters this year as the guy who played Delco joined the cast.
Girls (HBO) - This is the final season of this show and I am kinda sad. Last season was by the far the best season of the show as Hanna deals with her heartbreak, her dad being Gay and her mom justaccepting it and not getting a divorce. She's almost having a mid life crisis. And I really liked Marnie's character too which is rare because generally speaking I have never liked her. Jessa is a terrible human for what she did to Hanna and as much as I love Adam, he's no better. Shoshanna has always intrigued me and not one I cared for in the beginning but I really love her and Ray. It will be interesting to see how they finish out the story lines for these characters.
Dancing With The Stars (ABC) - This show always pvr's but I only watch it when the celebrities appeal to me. I didn't watch it last spring but I did watch it earlier this week. Amber Rose is so pretty! I know nothing about her except her twitter feud with the Kardashians.
Law + Order: SVU (NBC) - I have watched this show for so long it seems wrong to just quit it but I rarely watch it. There has been so much crime and drama with all the detectives that they all would be on desk duty for the rest of their career. I watch the episodes where the problem is the real victims and not police dept victims. I delete those.
Hells Kitchen/MasterChef/MasterChef Kitchen (FOX) - I watch all of these shows even though every new season is a train wreck and identical to the season before. I love me some Gordon Ramsay.
Shameless (The Movie Channel) - This is a crazy show that is on starting in Januarys. I did not love this past season and still have 2 episodes of the show to watch. I think whoever writes for this show is so effed up it's ridiculous. The story lines are crazy but I didn't love any of them hence the fact we haven't finished any yet.
Saturday Night Live (NBC): I still watch this fairly religiously during most seasons but especially during election season. It was fantastic last year and can only imagine how it will be leading up to the US presidential election in November.
2016 Fall Shows:
I set my PVR to record all of the shows below but that does not mean I will add them to my regular programming. Some pile up on my PVR and never get watched or they get cancelled and there is no point in watching it then, or I will watch at least one or two episodes before I realize I don't like it or I love it and it stays. You just never know. The above was just shows I watched but below I included those that I will record for Greg too.
Vice Principals (HBO) - it's more of a summer show but I am including it because we have 7 episodes on our PVR to watch of it haha. It's got the guy from East Bound and Down on it so it's gotta be funny.
Pitch (FOX) - This one is about baseball's first major league female pitcher. This one looks promising.
Designated Survivor (ABC) - I am recording this one for Greg only although I might like it but it's doubtful
American Housewife (ABC) - this one is actually getting terrible reviews from what I read but I think I need to still check it out.
This Is Us (NBC) - apparently this is very similar to Parenthood which I have never watched. I know, I know I swear I am the only person who hasn't. Greg told me not to PVR this but I most definitely am. This is supposed to be a tear jerker and I like a show that can make me cry. Greys used to make me but it hasn't done that since the aftermath of Derek's death.
Lethal Weapon (FOX) - I loved these movies and it will mostly likely be a terrible show but I love the commercial music for the promoting of it so for that reason alone, it's going on my PVR list.
Timeless (NBC) - I thought they made this show already but apparently not. It;s about time travels and is also getting terrible reviews but I am recording it for Greg. He told me to plus I would have anyways he likes shows like this.
Divorce (HBO) - I am probably most looking forward to this show because it has both Sarah Jessica Parker and Molly Shannon in it. How could it not be fabulous? It doesn't start until October 9th, not next week like most.
The Good Place (NBC) - This show was created by Mike Schur and he did Parks + Rec and Brooklyn 99 so it has the potential to be good plus it stars Kristin Bell (Anna from Frozen haha) and I think Ted Danson. It has gotten good reviews but I am not too convinced that I will enjoy it.
Conviction (ABC) - I don't remember much about what this is about but it stars the really cute cop Eddie Cahill from CSI New York. I saw a preview during the olympics and thought it could be good. Plus he's still cute. Basically the daughter of a former president works with lawyers to free the wrongly convicted.
Notorious (ABC) - I saw a preview during the Olympics so it must be on CTV as well. It looked kinda lame but still thought I should try it. I kinda like lame tv. It's about a producer and a lawyer who work together for news stories. I bet they hate each other and then hook up haha.
MacGyver (CBS) - I watched the original show once and was so weirded it out by it. This one promises to be more hip. We shall see.
And that is all. Maybe next week I will do a post on my favourite crave and netflix tv suggestions. I will follow up with this one in mid october to see which ones I kept and dropped or which ones got cancelled.
There are some great shows coming out mid-season and rumour has it that they keep the better ones for a later winter launch (i.e.. after the world series and super bowls). I will post about those as they come on!!
