I love New Years Day. It might just be my favorite day of the year. There is so much optimism and positivity amongst my friends and family and all over social media. There is nothing like waking up and starting fresh.
I don't really make resolutions but I do set goals + challenges for myself each year. I am big of self care and self improvement and something I work at throughout the year. I will speak to these in tomorrow's post.
One thing I have never done and I see so many friends do, is pick a word for the year. Your word could be anything as long as it resonates with you and does what you need it to. Some choose sweat or strength or happy or grace or whatever you fancy.
Before Christmas, someone shared this on their instastory and it really stuck with me. I have it on my word board on our main floor as a reminder right now of it. I have no stopped thinking about it and I think, given the situation in the world these days that it is really fitting and that we could all relate to it in some aspect of our lives.
This is my word for 2018. Simple yet poignant. I want to do better, I want to be better.
I will revisit this in a few months to see if I have done better or feel better to see if it will be as effective as I think it will.
Do you have a word? How do you pick yours and assess it?
